RAW PERILLA OIL The most delicate oil we have, raw perilla oil exhibits a light floral aroma with hints of damp earth, balanced by a sweet nuttiness.
Some in Korea start their day with a spoonful of raw perilla oil due to its vitamin, mineral, and omega-3 content; we prefer to drizzle it on sliced avocados or poached eggs for breakfast. You can also mix it with a neutral oil with a higher smoking point (such as grapeseed oil) to pan fry vegetables or tofu. The nutty flavor of the oil is accentuated as it heats up, providing another dimension to your dish.
The raw perilla oil can also be used in place of olive oil in deli style salads or other light dishes, but be careful when using it with stronger ingredients such as vinegar, which can overwhelm the delicate flavor of the oil.

Perilla seed A member of the mint family, and a cousin of the Japanese shiso, the leaves and seeds of the perilla plant are used in a variety of Korean dishes. The seeds are a great source of omaga-3, -6 and -9 fatty acids; in fact, perilla seeds contain some of the highest omega-3 levels of any plant source, including flax and chia seeds.
